This ritual strengthens your connection with your Lower Guardian Spirit. It provides energy, help, it protects you from negative energies and injurious influences. It strengths your immune system and health, and general good fortune. In addition, it may also grant smaller wishes. It is advisable to repeat this ritual at least once a month (or more often if necessary, e.g. once a week.)

Preparation:

The ritual is most effective during a waxing moon, although it may also be performed during a waning moon if this is required. Before doing this ritual for the first time, you should have already done the "Inner Temple" meditation several times, as this allows you to get to know your Lower Guardian Spirit (i.e. your power animal). If possible, place a picture of your Guardian Animal on the altar.

Light the altar light, saying:

I perform this ritual in the name of The Light
and under the protection of the Most High.

(If the ritual space is not a permanent temple and requires additional protection, or if you think additional protection necessary, perform the Rose Cross ritual .)

Then turn to the east. Light the yellow candle (ideally with a taper from the altar light), saying:

I call upon the Guardian of the East , the Lords of the element of Air
Take up your guard in the east
And hold your protective wings over me
And bless this ritual with wisdom, dedication and understanding

Then turn to the south. Light the red candle, saying:

I call upon the Guardian of the south, the Lords of the element of Fire
Take up your guard in the south
And hold your protective sword over me
And bless this ritual with courage and power

Then turn to the west. Light the blue candle, saying:

I call upon the Guardian of the west, the Lords of the element of Water
Take up your guard in the west
And hold your watchful eye over me
And bless this ritual with love and intuition

Then turn to the north. Light the green candle, saying:

I call upon the Guardian of the north, the Lords of the element of Earth
Take up your guard in the north
And hold your protective shield over me
And bless this ritual with peace and healing

Light a candle for your Guardian Spirit from the altar light. (For this purpose you should have a candle ready-prepared, decorated with a picture of your Guardian Spirit. This can either be carved into he candle, or made from coloured wax. Alternatively you can carve the name of the Guardian Spirit into the candle, or simply write "Guardian Candle" on it. It is additionally a good idea to consecrate the candle with a suitable protective oil. A larger candle would be better here, as this may be used again on repeating the ritual.)

Herewith I light the light of my Guardian Spirit
So that he is always by my side,
giving me his power, energy, and protection
to keep me in good health,
bringing me good fortune and prosperity

While doing this, think intensively of your Lower Guardian Spirit. Then call upon him. You can formulate this spontaneously, or can have a text ready-prepared. In doing so, describe the exceptional qualities of your Guardian Spirit. Think about what characterises him. (If it is a dog or a wolf, then describe how sharp his teeth are or how good his sense of tracking is. If it is a bird, describe his wings and claws. If a deer, then his antlers, speed etc...) Use as many details as you can.

(e.g. I call upon you, my (...)
Come, faithful guardian!
Nothing can escape your watchful eyes,
Your feet are like the speed of the wind...)

If you are using a text decided upon beforehand, expand the calling every time something new occurs to you. It may also be that your Guardian Spirit will tell you how he wants to be called. Visualise your Guardian Spirit as clearly and distinctly as possible. (If this is difficult, then build up the intensive feeling of his presence.)

Announce that you are performing this ritual in order to strengthen the link between you.

This ritual is dedicated to you
my Guardian Spirit
may it give you strength and power
that the bonds between us become firmer

Then call upon him three times, then offering him water, milk an/or bread.

(Name, Name, Name )
I offer water to refresh you
so that your cleansing power may flow through you
I offer you milk, giving you strength and power
I offer you bread, giving you nourishment and strength.
All this I offer you for your strength and power.

After having done this, you should strengthen the magical link to your Guardian Spirit. This could be done through dancing and singing (and rhythmic clapping) or by using a suitable musical instrument (drums, rattles, sistrums, etc...) or by meditative rhythmic recitations or chanting, or a combination of any of these possibilities. What is important is that you should always have the astral image of your Guardian Spirit clearly in front of you. You can imitate the movements or sounds of your Guardian Animal through dance and song, or use a magical incantation or a "song of power". One such incantation, which could either be sung, vibrated or spoken, may be:

Guardian, Guardian, my Guardian be
Keep watch before and behind me
Give me healing, make me strong
Keep my health that I live long
Guardian Guardian, magical being
Thou art strong and art all seeing
It is thy duty to protect
All evil things thou will deflect

(And, of course, add any additional lines which are in keeping with your Guardian Animal.) You may find your own incantation or song of power that are suitable. Your Guardian Spirit itself may give you a suitable song of power. A further alternative is simply singing a melody which arises from the inner depths of your soul (for this you do not need to use actual "words", as such a song may be particularly powerful if it consists of "wordless" syllables, for example in the manner of a Chassidic Niggun , an example being "Ya-Na-Na".) A further good possibility to allow power to be built up is by imitating the sound of your Guardian Animal, although this may not be possible in every case. Chose what appeals to you the most from all of these possibilities.

Attempt to create a sort of ecstatic trance through constant repetition while clearly visualising the image of your Guardian Spirit and feeling his presence. Repeat the incantation, song, dance or music for as long as think necessary to build up enough energy.

Now ask your Guardian Spirit in your own words for health, happiness and prosperity, as well as his protection.

(Your Lower Guardian Spirit may also be able to grant small wishes. Simply ask him for what you want. However, think well before doing this, as the Lower Guardian Spirit often has an earthy sense of humour, and it may well be that he will play a trick on you so that you learn a lesson when you attempt to use his powers unwisely!)

Meditate for a short time. Listen to your Guardian Spirit, as he may have something to tell you, have answers to questions, or have advice for you. (perhaps, too, advice on matters of your health.) Then thank him from the bottom of your heart.

Extinguish the candle of your Guardian Spirit. Then turn to the east and say:

I thank the Guardians of the East, the Lords of the element of Air
be prepared to take up your guard in the east
if I should need your protection
And be blessed to the extent of which
you are able to receive this blessing.

Bow, and extinguish the yellow candle. Then turn to the south and say:

I thank the Guardians of the south, the Lords of the element of Fire
be prepared to take up your guard in the south
if I should need your protection
And be blessed to the extent of which
you are able to receive this blessing.

Bow, and extinguish the blue candle. Then turn to the west and say:

I thank the Guardians of the west, the Lords of the element of Water
be prepared to take up your guard in the west
if I should need your protection
And be blessed to the extent of which
you are able to receive this blessing.

Bow, and extinguish the blue candle. Then turn to the north and say:

I thank the Guardians of the north, the Lords of the element of Earth
be prepared to take up your guard in the north
if I should need your protection
And be blessed to the extent of which
you are able to receive this blessing.

Bow, and extinguish the green candle. Then turn to the altar, bowing before the altar light and then extinguishing it.

(Take the water, milk and bread into a natural environment and dispose of it the next day.)

This ritual is part of the outer court training of Lodge Chayot ha-Qodesh.

We are an internationally recognized magical lodge and offer serious magical training based on the principles of the Qabbalah (Kabbalah, Kabbala, Kabala), the Hermetic magic and the Western Mysteries. Magical training in an authentic mysteryschool (or magic school, and/or magical order) of the western mystery tradition is the spiritual and mystical preparation for initiation of the student of the mysteries. Like every true magical lodge or magic school and every true Hermetic order we take training in magic very seriously. We stand in the spriritual tradition of the Rosicrucians and do not only teach the ancient ritual magic, the Egyptian magic, the Celtic magic and the Greek mysteries, but also the classical pillars of the Hermetik Tradition such as astrology and Tarot.
